Washington, D.C. – Georgetown University’s Master of Science in Finance (MSF) has been named by BestColleges.com as the number one program for their annual The 25 Best Online Master’s Degrees in Finance list for the 2014-2015 academic year.
BestColleges.com’s ranking method used a variety of metrics such acceptance rate, retention rate, and enrollment rate.
Georgetown’s overall metrics far exceeded its closest competitor.
Housed within the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown’s MSF was cited for its rigor, high-quality faculty, as well as career-focused curriculum, which helps graduates make a seamless transition into the professional ranks.
“We’re very pleased to receive this kind of recognition but, more importantly, we’re proud of the way we’ve earned it,” said Allan Eberhart, Professor of Finance and MSF Director. ”With our superb students, faculty, administration, and cutting edge technology, we’re transforming education at Georgetown and providing a blueprint for other schools around the world.”
The MSF program consists of six core courses, a week-long opening residency, three “selective” courses, and the capstone Global Consulting Project, which concludes in Johannesburg, South Africa this year. The students also receive extensive career management support and access to the Georgetown Alumni Network.
Notwithstanding its recency, the MSF program also has an active student government that is supporting the development of an MSF Student Graduate Investment Fund, an MSF Career Networking site, study groups, a speaker series, social events, and many other activities. The program also sponsors regular onsite receptions so that the students have a wide variety of opportunities to see each other in person.
