This summer, the Master’s in Science in Finance (MSF) program piloted a new data science course specific to Python programming. At such a high popularity with rising second year students and recent alumni, two sections were offered in June and July with nearly 40 students in each section.
The non-credit course was a cross between introduction and intermediate training on Python programming. Each section spanned four weeks of MSFLive sessions along with a comprehensive data programming assignment. The MSFLive sessions consisted of a 90-minute interactive case discussion with the course instructor and classmates involving real-world business problems faced by firms.
The faculty of the MSF program were extremely pleased with the high enrollment in the course, and are looking forward to building and propelling off its success as they plan to offer it again next summer.
“This course is an example of our continuous innovation theme, and commitment to ensuring that our students are on the cutting edge of business,” said Allan Eberhart, senior associate dean of the MSF program, and professor of finance. Professor Eberhart added “We’re thrilled to have the course professor, Dr. Ram Yamarthy, join the MSF faculty.” Dr. Yamarthy added “I’m honored to be part of this superb program, and I look forward to continuing to work with Allan and the rest of the MSF team.”
The MSF program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business provides working professionals with the opportunity to deepen their business and technical financial skills while offering a curriculum of intensive coursework, real-world applications, a global outlook, and a commitment to ethical values.
